Trevor's Baptism

I realized this afternoon how hopelessly behind I am with documenting March.
What can I say?
It has been one crazy month around here!

I left off with a post about Trevor's tournament, so I will pick up with Trevor's baptism.

We decided to have the baptism on Sunday, March 4th.
Chad's parents and brother and sister in law came up for the event.
There was also quite a big turn out at the church.  I had scheduled the Relief Society room but ended up having to move it to the chapel since the ward we share the building with didn't bother to check the calendar and set up some Young Women event in there.  It turned out ok since we had such a big turnout, but it was kind of stressful to walk into the building to find a bunch of people in the room we were supposed to use!

Luckily I had been telling myself all weekend not to sweat the small stuff (seriously, I think I was chanting it in my head for three days straight!) so I got over it quickly.

We sent invitations out to a few people and invited people over the pulpit.  On a whim I decided to send one with Trevor to his 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Burks.  I was walking down the hall before everything started and I came upon a lady who looked familiar asking someone where the chapel was.  It dawned on me that Mrs. Burks had actually come and after I got over the moment of shock that gave me, I welcomed her and showed her the way to the chapel.  Our neighbors (who are not members) also came.

It was really amazing to see so many people there who love us and support our family.  Even now I get goosebumps when I think about it!

I was happy that we took a leap of faith and invited our non member friends as well.

All ready to get "dunked"!

The Spirit was so strong during the program.

My brother in law, Adam, sang "I Stand All Amazed".
My dad spoke about baptism and my father in law spoke about the Holy Ghost.

Trevor was fun to watch while they were speaking.
He was listening more intently than I have ever seen him!
Trevor with Bishop Pennington

The Bishop got up and welcomed Trevor to the Ward at the end and gave an inspired little
 talk about the Atonement.
I don't think he knew how many non members and people who struggle with the Gospel were in the congregation, but the talk he gave spoke directly to them...and honestly it was a great reminder to everyone else as well.
I hope that Trevor remembers how special all of the speakers were that night.

I also hope he knows how much he is loved by his family and others who know him.

My dad, my mom, my brother David, Trevor and his cousin Reagan...who jumped into the picture just in time for me to get him in focus!

Chad and I and our kids with Chad's parents Paulette and Von, Chad's brother Cody and his wife Jasmine, and their two daughters, Madison and Kailea.

David, my parents and us.

Cody was the baby whisperer for the evening and took care of Sophie so I could focus on Trevor.  He worked his magic and she was asleep by the closing prayer!

First Place!

I  believe I mentioned that we were going to take Trevor to his very first Tae Kwon Do tournament last weekend.  Chad and I were so nervous for him!  It is really hard to watch your kid do something like that for the first time.  We watched some adults sparring and I couldn't help but worry about my little guy getting punched in the nose.
He is a serious bleeder so if his nose had even gotten tapped it would have bled for an hour.
Luckily there were no such casualties.

I am super sick so I won't go into all the details, but Trevor ended up taking home
two first place trophies!

The first trophy was for his pattern.  If you are not familiar with TKD, a pattern is a series of moves that he is required to learn and memorize for each belt that he earns.  The pattern for his green belt has 38 moves in it!  Each pattern has a name.
I don't know them all, and I couldn't tell you what they meant if I wanted to since they are Korean!

The second trophy is for sparring, or basically trying to knock the stuffing out of your opponent.  Trevor's particular opponent never got in any hits or kicks, so Trevor scored all of the available points.  He told me afterwards that he tried to stand back a bit so the other kid could get some points and get a trophy too...nice of him to think about the other guy, but a little bit beside the point of the event!

GO Trevor!

Master Stevens told me last night that they have a little competition where everyone earns points for how well they did at the quarterly tournaments.
At the end of the year the male and female with the most points gets a six foot tall trophy!
So far, with two first place trophies Trevor has six points, which is more than everyone else, even the adults that go to Steven's Family TKD!
I don't want to get ahead of myself or anything....but....
Where in the world am I going to put a six foot tall trophy???
